As per the estimates of the World Health Organization, ageing population is increasing in developing countries like India and dementia is going to become an epidemic among the elderly in the coming decades. The need of the hour to tackle dementia in India is to estimate the disease burden in the community, raise awareness among the public and general physicians, close the service gap and provide for comprehensive dementia care services; support and empower the families, promote research, train and create skilled dementia care workforce and build dementia friendly communities.
