Memory Clinics

People experience memory problems for all kinds of different reasons. It may simply be part of the ageing process, but it could also be caused by dementia. If dementia is diagnosed early, more can be done to delay the progression of the disease. Additionally, knowledge of the diagnosis can reduce the number and length of acute hospital admissions, delay the need for long-term residential care, and allow families to plan future medical care and finances.
The memory clinic will be conducted by a multidisciplinary team comprising of psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, and dementia care aides skilled in dementia care, at the dementia care center.

The service offered at our memory clinics:
The specialist conducts a detailed medical examination.
Cognitive assessment is done using the internationally accredited instruments by a clinical psychologist.
The assessment findings are documented and is used as the baseline for further assessment to determine the progression of the disease if any.
The degree of memory impairment is assessed, and the family is counselled accordingly.

The functional abilities with reference to activities of daily living are assessed and documented.
Assessment of behavioral and psychological symptoms.
If the cognitive assessments raise suspicion of dementia, the patient is advised to attend a higher center of their choice for further management.
The families are counselled on the diagnosis, the trajectories of the illness, the challenging behaviors, and coping strategies.

Assessment and appropriate support service for care givers is also offered by identifying their psychological and mental health needs.
We provide families with dementia related information leaflets, brochures, and caregiver manuals.
We assist the families in connecting with other ancillary service providers as and when required.
Follow up cognitive assessments for persons with dementia.

Please Know Early detection and cognitive stimulation will help delay the progression of Dementia and reduce the behavioral symptoms of the person with dementia.
