Dr. K. Chandra Sekhar

President ARDSI Hdyerabad Deccan Chapter, Psychiatrist MD

Dr. K. Chandra Sekhar is President and co-founder of ARDSI Hyderabad Deccan Chapter, is a leading Neuropsychiatrist and Geriatric Psychiatrist with 38 years of experience. He established Asha Hospital, Hyderabad’s first corporate psychiatric hospital, and oversees dementia care services, including Day Care and Respite Centres. His two-decade-long association with ARDSI reflects his dedication to dementia care and advocacy.

Dr Mani Tolety,

Vice President ARDSI Hyderabad Deccan Chapter

Dr Mani Tolety is a dedicated advocate for dementia care, focusing on creating dementia-friendly communities and advancing advocacy efforts. With over 30 years of experience across government, private, and NGO sectors, she actively contributes her medical expertise to ARDSI’s Memory Clinic and Cognitive Stimulation Therapies. she is committed to geriatric, palliative, and dementia care.  Dr. Tolety is also a life member of ARDSI and other key organizations and has been instrumental in integrating palliative care into Telangana’s district hospitals.

Shashidhar Komaravolu

Secretary

Shashidhar Komaravolu, co-founder and trustee of ARDSI Hyderabad since 2008, has been instrumental in managing the NGO and promoting dementia-friendly communities. Actively involved in dementia care since 2004, he supports family caregivers and advocates for better dementia care practices. A certified trainer for ADI’s Dementia Care Skills program and the UK’s Memory First Aid program, he brings 27 years of diverse experience across agriculture, ITES, consulting, healthcare, and non-profits. He holds an MBA in HR from Symbiosis and a Bachelor’s in Agriculture Science from Osmania University.

Dr O jyothi

Treasurer

Dr. O. Jyothi, Treasurer of ARDSI Hyderabad, plays a key role in public awareness campaigns, memory screening camps, and caregiver support meetings, contributing significantly to dementia care. A Consultant Psychiatrist at Asha Hospital with over two decades of experience, she specializes in General and Geriatric Psychiatry. Dr. Jyothi has been associated with ARDSI and dementia advocacy through her expertise and commitment.

A BALA

Joint secretary

Bala Tripura Sundari, co-founder of ARDSI Hyderabad, has served as Trustee and Joint Secretary. With 22 years of experience in HR strategy across sectors and 17 years dedicated to dementia care, she is passionate about supporting family caregivers, drawing from her own experience as a former dementia carer. Bala actively works to create Dementia-Friendly Communities by collaborating with hospitals, policymakers, and local communities while raising awareness about dementia.

 

Dr. Najamus Saquib

Executive Member

Dr. Najamus Saquib [MBBS, DPM, FIPS], Consultant Psychiatrist at Asha Hospital’s Geriatric Psychiatry Unit & Memory Clinic, is an executive member of ARDSI Hyderabad. She is actively involved in public dementia awareness, screening programs, and has been instrumental in establishing free dementia clinics for the underprivileged. With 10 years of clinical experience, including 2 years in geriatric psychiatry, she is dedicated to advancing dementia care and advocacy.

Saadiya Hurzuk

Program Manager and Psychologist

Saadiya Hurzuk is the Program Manager and Psychologist at ARDSI Hyderabad Deccan Chapter, where she leads various dementia care initiatives. She holds an MSc in Dementia Care Studies from the University of Stirling and has over 10 years of experience in the field. At ARDSI Hyderabad , she plays a key role in delivering person centred care through the daycare, which includes cognitive stimulation therapy, reminiscence therapy, and music therapy to enhance the quality of life for people living with dementia. She is also involved in training both professional caregivers and families on managing dementia and handling Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD).

Dr Suvarna Alladi

Former President and Co-founder , Advisory Committee Member

Dr Suvarna Alladi , co-founder of ARDSI Hyderabad Deccan Chapter, has been instrumental in the NGO’s growth, particularly in dementia awareness, advocacy, and care. Under her leadership as President, ARDSI Hyderabad established one of the region’s first Memory Clinics for dementia. As a neurologist and researcher, she advocates for underserved dementia populations and serves on global platforms, including STRiDE, the World Federation of Neurology, and ISTAART Alzheimer’s Association. Dr. Alladi is a leading expert in Cognitive Neurology with advanced training from Cambridge and Edinburgh.

Rukhsana Ansari

Former General Secretary, Co-Founder

Rukhsana Ansari, former General Secretary and a founding member of the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI), Hyderabad Deccan Chapter, where she has played a crucial role in advocating for dementia awareness and caregiver support. With over a decade of involvement in the NGO, she has been instrumental in its growth, focusing on the needs of caregivers and raising awareness about dementia in the city. She has been a dedicated leader in the dementia community, working tirelessly to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by dementia.

Dr Aprajita Bhatacharya

Executive member and Advisory Committee Member

Dr. Aprajita Bhattacharya plays a pivotal role in the organization as an Executive Member and Advisory Committee Member. With her expertise and dedication, she has been instrumental in driving advocacy efforts and building strong networks to support dementia care. Dr. Bhattacharya has also spearheaded impactful awareness campaigns, fostering understanding and action in the community to address the challenges of dementia.

Dr. Jaydip Ray Chowdhuri

Executive member and Advisory Committee Member

Dr. Jaydip Ray Chowdhuri, one of the co-founders of ARDSI Hyderabad Deccan Chapter, has been a great support since the organization’s inception. As an Executive and Advisory Committee Member, he plays a key role in advancing dementia care and awareness initiatives. With over 35 years of experience as a neurologist at Yashoda Hospital, he  is known for his expertise in neurological disorders and his dedication to improving neurological care.

Ms. Preeti Bhanushali

A former dementia caregiver, Ms. Preeti Bhanushali has been a steadfast pillar of support for ARDSI Hyderabad. Her invaluable contributions to caregiver meetings and events have greatly impacted the organization’s work. Beyond her active involvement, Ms. Bhanushali has also generously supported ARDSI through in-kind donations. Currently retired, she is the co-founder of a biomedical equipment company, bringing a wealth of experience and compassion to her volunteer work with ARDSI.

Mrs. Sridevi Prabhu

A former caregiver to her mother-in-law, Mrs. Sridevi Prabhu has shown exceptional dedication and empathy in supporting her family. Currently working in the IT sector, she actively participates in ARDSI Hyderabad’s initiatives, offering her valuable insights and support in various caregiver-related events and activities. Her involvement has been a great asset to the organization, reflecting her commitment to making a positive impact in the dementia care community.

Dr. Satyavathi Ravulapally

Dr. Satyavathi Ravulapally, a researcher and scientist, has also been a devoted caregiver to her mother-in-law, providing compassionate care during her dementia journey. Her professional expertise and personal experience with caregiving have made her a strong advocate for dementia awareness. Dr. Ravulapally actively contributes to ARDSI Hyderabad’s efforts, offering her knowledge

Mr. Turabh Mohemmed

A retired official and a dedicated member of the Senior Citizen Forum, Mr. Turabh has been an immense support to ARDSI Hyderabad. With his extensive experience and community connections, he has played a key role in networking with senior citizen forums and contributing to outreach programs. His efforts have significantly enhanced ARDSI’s ability to engage with and support the elderly community, making a positive impact on dementia awareness and care.

Dr. Vyasa Moorthy

A retired academician, Dr. Vyasa Moorthy is actively involved in several senior citizen welfare associations across Hyderabad. His dedication to the well-being of the elderly community has made him a valuable supporter of ARDSI Hyderabad, where he contributes to various initiatives aimed at improving dementia awareness and care.

Many students who initially joined ARDSI Hyderabad as interns have continued to be an integral part of our organization, taking up the cause of dementia with dedication. Their ongoing involvement in community outreach programs and events focused on dementia awareness has been invaluable. These young volunteers have significantly contributed to spreading awareness and supporting various initiatives that make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.
